In 2019, Builders Without Borders Director, Caroline Hart met former gang member turned community builder, Jeremias Vobada. Caroline spent ten days with Jeremias in several communities in San Pedro Sula. The people living in these communities have no access to medical care. Illnesses and accidents that would be routinely taken care of in the global north can lead to complications, even death, in these under-resourced communities.

Builders Without Borders is working with Jeremias in partnership with Border Crossers for Christ, a US-based organization, to construct a small medical centre to begin providing basic services for the surrounding neighborhoods.

With $25,000.00 already raised, Phase One of the Project is underway to construct the ground floor of the centre. We are launching a fundraising campaign to raise another $10,000.00 for Phase Two to build a second story.

With construction drawing for the Centre nearing completion, The Project Team will soon move ahead with the construction schedule in the next month. Further partnerships are also being explored to provide donations of medical equipment.

BWB is also working on the ground in San Pedro Sula in the development of an operational budget and staffing solutions to support the opening of the Centre.
